Sex & Love
A Game Proposal

A charming story about how one LittleBigPlanet enthusiast proposed to his wife using the game itself.
People are often very inventive with marriage proposals, some of the lengths people will go to are astounding. But it must be getting harder to think of new things as time progresses, planes pulling banners across the sky for example are still very romantic but could hardly be considered original anymore.
People are often very inventive with marriage proposals, some of the lengths people will go to are astounding. But it must be getting harder to think of new things as time progresses, planes pulling banners across the sky for example are still very romantic but could hardly be considered original anymore.
So when Ken Hoist, decided to ask his partner Jeanne to marry him he had to get very inventive indeed. Being a life long gamer he came up with an idea that was a first (though bound to be often repeated), he would propose through a level he created himself on the best selling game LittleBigPlanet (LBP).
He says this seemed logical as Jeanne and her ten year old daughter Izabella are also dedicated gamers and it is an activity they all indulge in together, so the stage was set, as they say.
For those of you who are unfamiliar, LBP is a game where you play a little sack creature and put it through loads of trials and tribulations in the form of obstacle course like levels. What makes this game unique is the ability to create these levels yourself, with a level builder tool.
So, after tucking his two girls into bed Ken sneaked out at midnight to design his unique proposal level. He estimates it took him about four hours as he had to keep playing and replaying to make sure it was what he had envisioned. In the end he was left with a very cute sack creature jumping over obstacles as they fell from the sky to slowly spell the sentence, will you marry me?
He says next day he asked the unsuspecting Jeanne to play his creation through, ‘just to see what she thought’. Ken says when Jeanne realized what the level was doing she “reacted the way most people would expect and it was definitely a very special moment”
He says the best bit was the fact that the fun and memorable proposal got to include the ten year old Izabella who was in the room as her mum played through the level and was nearly as excited as her when they twigged what was going on.
Luckily Jeanne agreed to the fabulous proposal and the pair are to be married in September. Let’s hope that the wedding ends as spectacularly as Ken’s level which showed the character being rained in flower petals and whisked away in a hot air balloon.
That is one copy of LBP that we can assume will never end up on ebay.
